The church is a rather unimpressive building near the quadrangle of town hall, festival grounds and main street. It is without doubt the center of live in Lavezares, even before town hall and market, as here religion plays such a major role that the priest has to face competition from his own camp - the Brothers and Sisters of Smahe already are a fixed part of street life, and other religious communities with relations to the catholic church have settled here.
Still, the procession on Eastern is duty programme for all citizens of Lavezares with good reputation, and my family also starts on the way once around the community. The procession goes on in two rows, on to the right, for the men, and one to the left, for the women. But in the course of the event, this starts mixing soon, as a procession is a time for religious observances, but also a time for chissmiss...
